Sometimes I read Socialist web sites to try to understand the actions of our current government, which it won’t admit directly.

Now, it is common knowledge that the current regime in Ukraine — the one we’re funding with hundreds of billions of unaccountable money — overthrew the prior regime in 2014.

But according to this Socialost web site, that 2014 coup was carried out by the “far right,” and is supported by “neo Nazi parties” in Ukraine.

Also, according to these Socialists, Nazi sympathizers in Germany are supporting the Nazis who are fighting for Zelensky, the current Ukrainian president.

Now, I don’t trust anything a socialist says. However, their positions do raise questions.

For example, Putin has said many times that Zelensky is supported by Ukrainian Nazis. These Socialists are saying the same thing. If Putin is the bad guy that our government says he is, why are die-hard socialists agreeing with him?

If the Ukrainians are the good guys in this war, why are the
Socialists calling them Nazis?

If Putin is the bad guy, why are these socialists saying that the USA and NATO provoked and financed this war as an excuse for an all out war with Russia?

I am not saying I know the answers to these questions. However, when one group you don’t trust is criticizing another group you don’t trust, sometimes a lot of truth comes out.

And one thing I’m pretty sure of is that the regime currently running the USA has never uttered a true word about the current war in Ukraine.

The background and implications of the 2014 far-right coup in Kiev, which overthrew the pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych, is critical for understanding the current Ukraine-Russia war. This coup was openly supported by US and European imperialism and implemented primarily by far-right shock troops such as the Right Sector and the neo-Nazi Svoboda Party.

It represented the temporary culmination of long-standing efforts by US imperialism to install a puppet regime on the borders of Russia and brought the world a major step closer to a war between the largest nuclear powers, the US and Russia. Ukraine has since been systematically built up as a launching pad for a NATO war against Russia.
