The main cast for the upcoming live-action movie Snow White has been released, and it appears that the actors who play the seven dwarfs are more diverse than one could have imagined.
The Daily Mail reports that Snow White will be played by Rachel Zegler, and her seven companions are of all different genders, ethnicities, and heights.

Disney announced that the so-called “magical creatures” would be replacing the traditional seven dwarfs to “avoid reinforcing stereotypes.” This comes after Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage criticized the “f*cking backwards story” last year, per the report.
“I was a little taken aback when they [Disney] were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs,” Dinklage said on Mark Maron’s WTF podcast. “It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way and you’re still making that f*cking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f*ck are you doing man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”
Additionally, the higher-ups at Disney were blasted for giving the role of Snow White to Zegler, even though the traditional story features a “fair” German princess. The film, which also features Gal Gadot as the wicked stepmother, is set to be premiered in March 2024.
To take apart the traditional story even more, there will apparently be no Prince Charming featured in the film, with Snow White being cast as a “stronger” character who fantasizes about becoming a leader.
Zegler addressed some of the criticism, saying that “People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White… yeah, it is – because it needed that.”
“Our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond Someday My Prince Will Come.”
Zegler posted in a now-deleted tweet that “Yes I am Snow White; no, I am not bleaching my skin for the role.”
Disney’s original version of Snow White appeared in 1937, which was roughly based on the 1812 fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm.
