On Tuesday, Republican Representative Kevin McCarthy was removed from the position of Speaker of the House in a 216-210 vote.
Eight Republicans voted with 208 Democrats to pass the motion to vacate the chair.
Representative Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government, was appointed as one of three leaders for President Joe Biden’s impeachment inquiry by then-Speaker McCarthy on September 12th.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana is also running to succeed McCarthy, a decision to which the President has not yet responded after being contacted by the Daily Caller News Foundation for comment.
