Top tip as a mysterious Civilisation Cycles Analyst…
Don’t look at how things are today, rather, detect and track trends. It is the direction of travel that really matters, not a snapshot in time.
Peer into the future based upon what’s happened in the past. This will arm you with a general sense of things to come. Do you see cycles, or is your thinking (or worse, feeling) too lopsided to detect them? Some brains are much better at this than others.
Can you see parallels today between the Modern West and the Roman Empire? A complex interplay between culture and biology, shaping civilisations from the Roman Empire to the Modern West.
Imagine telling a late-stage Roman citizen that his world which had stood for one thousand years, was coming to an end? He would have laughed in your face and called you a moron.
“We will never become a mere footnote in history.” -said Roman citizen
Can you see the three distinct stages (or phases) along the Roman cycle?
1. Roman Kingdom
2. Roman Republic
3. Roman Empire
4. Sub-Rome
What came after Empire?
Also, if you’re a competent CCA and you are able to actually see these civilisation cycles in historical time, you should not assume that history repeats itself either. Just because something has happened in the past, does not mean that it will happen again. History doesn’t repeat, it rhymes. We live in the 21st century which is unique to us and us alone, as time was unique to the Greeks, or that of the Romans in theirs.
In the 21st century, history seems to be speeding up too. Things are accelerating because we live in an exponential age. This can be extremely difficult to comprehend. Either the next stage of consciousness, or a biblical amount of disintegration on a scale never before seen in all of human history.
Now imagine having a brain today that doesn’t know much history, that can’t see cycles (or arcs), that lives on a kind of Flatland, that doesn’t understand the difference between repetition, rhymes and rhythm, that can’t think exponentially?
The post-liberal world is going to be a very scary place that will not make much sense to those lazy brains. It will be living hell. Doubtful whether politicians, modern media, will help you if you do make the mistake of looking to them for guidance and answers. Think in cycles, think exponentially. It’s good to think. This is why we have conscious brains.
